As the ring gauge widens, the smoke cools and the profile expands considerably. The coffee deepens into espresso territory, joined by dark chocolate and a subtle earthiness that grounds the sweeter notes. Vanilla appears mid-palate, elegant and restrained. White pepper provides gentle punctuation on the finish without disrupting the overall harmony. The draw opens up further, producing thick, aromatic clouds that linger in the air.

The final act brings increased intensity while maintaining remarkable composure. Leather becomes more prominent, joining forces with aged cedar and a mineral quality that speaks to the tobacco's terroir. Cohiba was established in 1966 as a private brand for Fidel Castro and high-ranking Cuban officials. For years, these cigars were exclusively reserved for diplomatic gifts and state functions, never available to the public. The 2001 Edicion Limitada programme was among the earliest limited-production releases, and the Piramides format was a significant addition—bringing the torpedo shape to the Cohiba portfolio. Rolled at the El Laguito factory with tobaccos aged beyond the standard requirement, this release now carries over two decades of additional maturation, making surviving examples increasingly scarce and sought after by collectors.
