Museum-worthy but made for smoking
Bought two — one to smoke, one to keep. The one I smoked was transcendent. Twenty-plus years of age turned it into liquid silk.

Product Presentation: Box of 10
First Third
The tapered head delivers concentrated smoke from the very first draw. Cream and coffee arrive together, rich and well-integrated after more than two decades of aging. Cedar weaves through the background, dry and aromatic, while a faint leather note surfaces on the retrohale. The body sits at a confident medium, with a density that speaks to the maturity of the tobacco. There is no rough edge here—every element has been smoothed by time.
Mid-Section
As the ring gauge widens, the smoke cools and the profile expands considerably. The coffee deepens into espresso territory, joined by dark chocolate and a subtle earthiness that grounds the sweeter notes. Vanilla appears mid-palate, elegant and restrained. White pepper provides gentle punctuation on the finish without disrupting the overall harmony. The draw opens up further, producing thick, aromatic clouds that linger in the air.
Final Third
The final act brings increased intensity while maintaining remarkable composure. Leather becomes more prominent, joining forces with aged cedar and a mineral quality that speaks to the tobacco's terroir. The cream persists, rounding out the bolder notes and preventing any harshness. A touch of dried fruit emerges on the retrohale—a hallmark of well-aged Cuban tobacco. The finish is long, warm, and deeply satisfying.

Cohiba was established in 1966 as a private brand for Fidel Castro and high-ranking Cuban officials. For years, these cigars were exclusively reserved for diplomatic gifts and state functions, never available to the public. The 2001 Edicion Limitada programme was among the earliest limited-production releases, and the Piramides format was a significant addition—bringing the torpedo shape to the Cohiba portfolio. Rolled at the El Laguito factory with tobaccos aged beyond the standard requirement, this release now carries over two decades of additional maturation, making surviving examples increasingly scarce and sought after by collectors.

Cohiba Piramides limited edition 2001
$4550.00
The Cohiba Piramides Limited Edition 2001 is a Piramides format Cuban cigar measuring 156 mm (6.1") with a 52 ring gauge, presented in boxes of 10. Released as part of the 2001 Edicion Limitada programme, it was among the earliest limited-production torpedos to carry the Cohiba band.
With over two decades of natural ageing, this is a collector's piece suited to experienced smokers who value vintage Cuban tobacco at its finest. The medium-to-full profile delivers cream, coffee, and cedar with the depth and refinement that only extended rest can bestow.
Hand-rolled at El Laguito from specially selected Vuelta Abajo long-filler tobaccos, the construction meets the exacting standards expected of Cohiba's most exclusive releases. The tapered Piramides head concentrates smoke for a focused, flavourful delivery, while the aged wrapper has developed a matte, evolved surface that speaks to its years of rest. The overall character is smooth and complex — aged wood, cream, and subtle sweetness dominate, with a quiet authority that distinguishes properly cellared Cuban tobacco from anything younger. This is a cigar that exemplifies what time and careful storage can achieve.

Bought two — one to smoke, one to keep. The one I smoked was transcendent. Twenty-plus years of age turned it into liquid silk.
Hard to rate a cigar this old because you never know what storage conditions were like before it reached you. That said, mine was in excellent shape — the wrapper still had its oils and the draw was perfect. The flavor profile was mellow, refined, almost tea-like with hints of dried apricot and old wood. Compared to modern Cohiba limited editions, this felt more subtle and sophisticated. A real collector's cigar that still smokes beautifully.
I've been chasing vintage Cuban limited editions for years, and the Cohiba Piramides LE 2001 is one of the all-time greats. Found a well-preserved box through this site and I'm thrilled with the condition. Over two decades of aging have transformed this cigar into something ethereal — dried fruit, aged leather, a whisper of vanilla, and a finish that goes on and on. The torpedo tip gives you control over the draw. If you can find the Cohiba Piramides Limited Edition 2001, buy it. These are only getting rarer.
