The Serie E No. 2 opens with unmistakable Partagas character. At 54 ring gauge, the draw is open and generous, releasing thick clouds of smoke loaded with damp earth, leather, and a sharp black pepper that commands attention. There is a raw, almost primal quality to the opening — savory and intense, with very little sweetness to soften the blow. The body arrives at full almost immediately.
As the burn settles, the blend shows its depth beneath the power. Dark chocolate emerges alongside the earth, and the leather takes on a richer, more textured quality. Espresso notes add warmth, while a woody backbone of toasted oak provides structure. The pepper recedes slightly, allowing a subtle mineral salinity to come through. The smoke is dense and chewy, coating the palate with each draw.
The closing section pushes into formidable territory. Charred wood, bitter coffee, and persistent earth dominate, while the earlier chocolate sweetness returns as a balancing element. The strength remains firmly full, and the pepper reasserts itself on the retrohale. A long, warming finish of leather and scorched earth lingers on the palate.
