Overhyped Smoke Fails to Deliver
The Montecristo Linea 1935 Maltes review conversation keeps praising this as a flagship, but honestly it falls flat. I smoked a box of these over three months at my local lounge in Miami, and the construction was inconsistent—some sticks burned canoe-style while others performed decently. The draw was tighter than I'd like on several examples, which is frustrating at this price point. At 53 ring gauge and 170mm, it's a hefty smoke that promises complexity but delivers mostly generic cedar notes without the depth I'm after. Compared to the Bolivar Belicosos, which offers richer earthiness and a much more satisfying nub, this Montecristo feels like they're coasting on the name. The mainstream treats this like a must-try, but I'd skip it and grab a Bolivar instead.
