Montecristo No. 3 fails to justify the hype
Lighting up this Corona at my local lounge, I expected the world, given its reputation as the best cuban cigar gift. Unfortunately, the construction didn't match the pedigree. Mine had a soft foot and the burn canoed significantly past the halfway mark, requiring constant attention. At Ring Gauge 42, the draw was a bit loose, delivering a muted profile of dry wood and faint coffee that lacked the vibrancy of yesteryear. While mainstream smokers fawn over the Montecristo name, I found the complexity wanting. For a similar spend, the Bolivar Belicosos offers a far superior, robust experience that actually evolves. This stick felt like a shadow of the brand's legacy, a disappointing addition to my humidor.
