My New Favorite Montecristo
I've smoked my way through most of the Montecristo portfolio over the years, and the Linea 1935 Dumas has quickly risen to the top of my list. There's a richness here that the standard numbered series doesn't quite match — deeper, more layered, with a velvety texture on the palate that reminds me why Cuban cigars are in a class of their own. The Dumas format is perfectly sized for a leisurely hour-long smoke. Paired it with a glass of aged rum last weekend and the combination was transcendent. The cedar and cocoa notes from the cigar played beautifully with the caramel sweetness of the rum. Montecristo absolutely nailed this release.
