Vegueros is a brand with a unique history, created in 1961 to honor the tobacco growers (vegueros) of the Vuelta Abajo region. Unlike many global Cuban brands, Vegueros is produced exclusively at the Francisco Donatién factory in Pinar del Río, the heart of Cuba's tobacco cultivation. This geographic distinction gives the brand a specific terroir-driven identity, often characterized by more rustic, herbal, and robust flavors compared to the sweeter profiles of Havana-produced cigars. The Centrofinos vitola was introduced as part of a modernization of the line, designed to appeal to a new generation of smokers while maintaining the traditional soul of the region.
