The La Flor de Cano Elegidos is a figurado — a torpedo shape — from one of Cuba's less-heralded marcas, and it is a fantastic cigar. The tapered head concentrates the flavours beautifully: cedar, cream, roasted nuts, and a building spice that intensifies through the final third. The construction was excellent and the burn needed no corrections. I smoked one at a lounge in Barcelona and it held its own against much pricier torpedos. Solid torpedo from an underappreciated brand

La Flor de Cano does not get the spotlight but the Elegidos deserves it. This is a well-made Cuban torpedo with genuine complexity. The first third is mild and creamy, the second opens into earthy, nutty territory, and the final third delivers a satisfying peppery punch. I smoke a wide range of Cuban cigars and this competes with torpedos costing twice as much. My regular smoking spot is my garden in Sydney and the Elegidos has become a Sunday afternoon staple. Worth adding to your collection if you appreciate good value and interesting shapes.
