First Third:

The Distinguidos begins with a distinct, slightly dry woodiness that is characteristic of the Cuaba brand. Because of the tapered foot, the initial light offers an immediate concentration of flavour, introducing notes of cedar and a subtle hint of black pepper. The draw is slightly resistant at first but opens up beautifully as the burn line passes the widest point of the cigar.

Mid-Section:

As the burn reaches the thickest part of the ring gauge, the smoke cools significantly and the flavour profile broadens. Roasted nuts and cream emerge, joining the persistent cedar. Leather develops on the retrohale, supple and refined. Earth tones add depth without heaviness. The double-pointed format creates a unique smoking dynamic—the smoke character shifts subtly as the ring gauge expands and contracts.

Final Third:

The Distinguidos finishes with a gradual concentration of flavour as the figurado shape narrows toward the head. Espresso and dark chocolate join the wood and earth, building intensity. Black pepper sharpens on the finish, while the cream from the middle third provides a smooth counterpoint. The closing draws are bold and satisfying—a complete arc from dry wood to rich complexity.

Cuaba was officially launched in 1996, making it one of the newer additions to the Habanos S.A. portfolio, yet it carries a profound respect for history. The brand was created specifically to revive the 19th-century tradition of double-pointed figurado cigars—tapered at both head and foot. The Distinguidos is the largest vitola in the range, showcasing the format at its most impressive.
