Solid performer every time
Consistent, flavorful, and perfectly sized for an after-dinner smoke. The Siglo IV never lets me down. I rotate between this and the Partagas Serie D No. 4, and honestly the Cohiba edges it out most days.

Product Presentation: Box of 25
First Third
Once you toast the foot, the smoke production is immediate and surprisingly dense for a 46 ring gauge. You get hit right away with that signature grassy note unique to El Laguito production, but it is quickly smoothed over by a distinct flavor of raw honey. The draw usually offers just the right amount of resistance, letting you pull in cool, creamy smoke that coats the tongue without any harsh pepper bite this early on.
Mid-Section
As the burn line moves past the first inch, the honey sweetness matures into a warm, toasted vanilla bean character that feels much richer. The strength begins to creep up from medium, introducing a cedar woodiness and a faint, refreshing zest that reminds me of dried citrus peel. This is where the extra barrel fermentation of the filler leaves really shows its value, keeping the texture silky even as the flavors become more robust.
Final Third
The politeness fades in the final stretch as the profile shifts toward a darker, earthier spectrum with genuine weight. You will notice the arrival of roasted coffee beans and a distinct leather note that dominates the palate, backed by a spicy kick of white pepper. It finishes with a medium-full intensity that remains balanced, inviting you to smoke it down until the heat threatens your fingertips.

Cohiba started as a private reserve for Fidel Castro in 1966 and remained a diplomatic gift for heads of state until it finally hit the public market in 1982. The Siglo IV is part of the Linea 1492 series, released to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus arriving in the Americas. This specific line distinguishes itself by using a third fermentation process in wooden barrels for the seco and ligero leaves, removing impurities to create a smoother finish than the classic line.
Ideal For
This is the stick you grab when you want to appreciate the craftsmanship of a high-end Cuban without being overwhelmed by nicotine or aggressive tannins. It suits intermediate smokers who understand how to pace themselves to keep the flavors cool, rather than beginners who might smoke too fast and miss the nuance. Save this for a late afternoon session where you can sit still for an hour and focus entirely on the changing profile.

I buy these regularly for my husband and he says the Siglo IV is the sweet spot of the entire Línea 1492 range. Not too big, not too small, and the flavors are incredible. He's a hard man to impress with cigars and these always make him happy.
The Cohiba Siglo IV is a corona gorda that flies under the radar compared to its bigger siblings, and I honestly don't understand why. This is a phenomenal cigar. Medium-full body, with a gorgeous blend of cedar, roasted almonds, cream, and a hint of white pepper that builds beautifully through the second and final thirds. 45 minutes of pure enjoyment. I often prefer this to the Siglo VI because the smaller ring gauge concentrates the wrapper flavors. Best Cohiba Siglo for medium-format lovers.
