Montecristo Media Corona Fails to Impress
Lighting up the Media Corona during a brief respite yesterday, I expected the quintessential Montecristo experience in a compact format. While the 44 ring gauge promises elegance, the construction was a constant struggle. The draw was tight, and an uneven burn required multiple corrections, ruining the smoking rhythm. Flavor-wise, it offered standard grassy notes but lacked the complexity found in a Partagas Serie E No. 2, which remains my superior choice for Cuban tobacco. Many hail this as the best budget cuban cigar, but I suspect that is just hype talking. For the price of a box of 25, the value just isn't there given the quality issues. It is a mediocre smoke that failed to hold my attention, finishing harsh and bitter. A disappointment from such a storied marque.
