Trinidad Cabildos 2024: Decent But Overhyped
The Trinidad Cabildos (2024 Limited Edition) review I've been sitting on for months finally needs to be shared. Pulled one from a box at a friend's rooftop gathering in Havana last April - perfect setting, wrong cigar. The Grand Corona construction is immaculate, no complaints there, and that 50 ring gauge gives a comfortable mouthfeel. But here's the thing: the flavor profile just doesn't deliver. I'm getting basic cedar and a faint pepper note that never evolves. The burn stayed even, which is something, but the medium body feels underdeveloped compared to what a limited edition should offer. The real disappointment hit when I lit up a Partagas Lusitanias the following evening - that richness and complexity the Cabildos is missing? Lusitanias has it in spades. For a 2024 limited release, I expected more. It's not a bad cigar, but at this price point (or if you can find it), Lusitanias wins every time.
