Elegant and understated
I prefer smaller ring gauge cigars and the No.3 is perfect for me. It's like a more concentrated version of the larger Montecristos — all that flavor packed into a thinner format. Lovely cigar.

First Third
When you first put flame to the foot, do not rush. The 42 ring gauge is unforgiving if you overheat it right out of the gate. Once you get an even burn, the initial draw brings a sharp, waking snap of black pepper and dry cedar. It is not aggressive, but it certainly announces its presence. Within the first half-inch, that peppery introduction settles down quickly, making room for a distinct earthiness that coats the palate. You might notice the draw is slightly firmer than a ro

Everyone talks about the No.2 and No.4, but the Montecristo No.3 deserves more attention. It's a beautiful corona format that delivers about 45 minutes of smooth, balanced flavor. Woody and slightly sweet with a light coffee undertone. I find it more refined than the No.4, actually. Great construction and an even burn every time. One of the best mid-range Cuban cigars you can buy.
